contact lenses
The first step in achieving successful contact lens treatment is a yearly comprehensive eye exam. This permits Dr. Chong to thoroughly evaluate the health of your eyes and provide a prescription for eyeglasses. Once this prescription is determined, Dr. Chong can determine if you are a good candidate for contact lenses. This will involve a contact lens fitting and evaluation. If you are a good candidate, Dr. Chong will perform a diagnostic evaluation with different lens designs on the eye using a topographer and a biomicroscope to determine the exact shape of your eyes and the best fit.
The most important part of a successful fit is the professional follow-up care to evaluate your ocular health and the ability to adapt to the contacts. These office visits are extremely important to be a successful contact lens wearer. These office visits are generally scheduled at the end of the day allowing the patient to wear the contact lenses for at least eight to ten hours prior to the evaluation. The contact lens wearer is requested to bring glasses also for this follow-up evaluation as special dyes will be placed in the eyes for evaluation. The presence of these dyes precludes the wearing of the contacts after the evaluation. Our professional fees have been determined according to the level of care and the number of office visits necessary to monitor the eye health for a successful fit.
Contact lens are now available for farsighted, nearsighted, astigmatic and presbyopic corrections.
Patients who are new to contact lenses are required to have a contact lens training visit with one of our technicians to enable them to instruct them on the latest methods of insertion, removal and contact lens care.
Contact lens prescriptions are only valid for one year from the date of exam and can only be released after the contact lens exam and fitting have been completed and the patient is wearing is wearing the lenses successfully.
